Vali Incorporated is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineer who will Missile Defense Agency quality and mission assurance by providing software quality support to MDA's software system acquisition process and providing technical evaluations of Developer designs for subcomponents, assemblies, and integrated systems associated with MDA programs. The individual will also provide subject matter expertise for the identification, evaluation, and mitigation of risks associated with various aspects of the design, development, manufacturing, fielding and operation of MDA systems.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical expertise in software quality assurance to the government for the assigned programs.
  • Provide weekly status reports on software activities and issues of concern.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams conducting software quality evaluations, audits and assessments, for existing and developmental missile defense programs. Activities include providing on-site verification and auditing at Developer facilities to ensure that controls are in place for quality assurance practices including foreign object debris, electrostatic discharge, and contamination.
  • Review, support and assess software development activities based on software development processes and models, to include all phases of development.
  • Support Program milestone technical reviews.
  • Participate and provide input for Software Review Boards, failure investigations and failure review boards. Activities include determining root cause of failures of MDA hardware and software.
  • Submit status reports identifying and explaining conditions, issues of concern, status and corrective actions currently open in assigned program.
  • Participate in assessments, tests, or technical interchange meetings to assess processes and practices for compliance with software quality assurance strategies, policies, and standards.
  • Review software and firmware developer's processes and products to assess compliance with applicable government and developer's documented processes and procedures.
  • Participate in technical meetings and independent software code reviews for software development efforts to assess compliance with industry-wide and MDA software quality assurance standards and best practices.
  • Provide oversight by assessing software products by participating in meetings, interacting with product owners and team members to integrate quality assurance in software development.
  • Assess software quality assurance to include requirements, design, development, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Provide technical expertise, and recommendations to assigned program personnel on any issues or observations.
  • Collect, compile, track, review and assess available software quality assurance metrics for assigned programs.
  • Assess the developer's Software Quality Plan to confirm software processes and products conform to requirements throughout the life cycle.
  • Support SQA reviews, providing detailed analysis, recommendations for improvement, and accurate reporting.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering.
  • 7 plus years of experience in software engineering field.
  • Experience leading and executing extensive software quality engineering support efforts for complex weapon systems, system elements, interfacing systems, components, devices and/or processes for missile defense programs.
  • Experience with software quality processes and products from requirements phase through testing and fielding.
  • Experience leading the implementation of software quality engineering.
  • Experience working independently or leading teams to solve problems.
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance; current clearance would be a plus.
